Systembolaget or the “spirit” of Sweden

Today, the action we tried to avoid most of all happened. We had to go to the Systembolaget because our supplies were completely depleted. Yes thats right, we are out of alcohol…

The Systembolaget is the only shop in Sweden where it is possible to buy alcoholic drinks with over 3,5% alcohol. It was a little strange going into a shop in which only alcohol is available and nothing else.

The assortment is really nice. There are lots of different drinks. And there was also a small amount of German beer. Jägermeister was also available, too.

But the prices are really a pain in the ass. As you can see Wodka Absolut, a Swedish produce, is even more expensive in the land it’s made in, than in a land it’s exported to like Germany.

If you converse 245 SEK into Euro, it’s over 25€. Thats a lot of money for a 0.7l bottle.

So we ended up with a 3l bag of red wine. Yes thats right. A BAG of wine. The Sweds a real philistines. Of course they have wine in bottles, too. But the bag was most reasonable. Anyway, for mixing it with Coke it was good enough.

Thats why I hope you guys will visit us ASAP and bring us some resupplies :-)
